Travelling between Canada and India is set to get another direct option this winter. Air India is launching seasonal nonstop flights between Mumbai and Toronto on October 25, 2026 — a direct connection between the two cities that hasn’t existed before.
The new Air India nonstop service is relevant for Canadians visiting family in Mumbai, students returning to India, and business travellers who prefer a direct flight. It also expands Air India’s Canadian network ahead of the busy winter travel season, when holiday trips and family visits increase demand for flights between the two countries.
Here’s everything you should know about the new Air India Mumbai–Toronto flights, including operating dates, aircraft, cabin options and connections to other Indian cities.

What the New Route Means for Canada–India Travellers
Before this seasonal service starts, passengers flying between Mumbai and Toronto will usually need a connecting flight. The stop depends on the airline and the route, with another airport added to the journey.
Air India’s nonstop service takes that extra stop out of the trip. Passengers leaving Mumbai will fly direct to Toronto without changing planes. The same applies when travelling back to Mumbai.
That makes the journey easier for families with children, older travellers, and passengers carrying multiple bags. You won’t need to change flights, navigate another airport, or wait for a connecting service.
Travellers based outside Mumbai have another departure option as well. The new service by Air India gives them another route to consider alongside flights from Delhi to Toronto and other major Indian gateways.
Boeing 777-300ER Brings Upgraded Cabin Options
Air India will operate the Mumbai–Toronto route with an upgraded Boeing 777-300ER. The aircraft will have eight First Class suites, 40 flat-bed seats in Business Class, and 280 seats in Economy. Wi-Fi connectivity is also planned.
First Class leads on privacy and space. Business Class steps it down slightly but keeps the flat bed seats. Economy keeps the focus on the ticket price without the premium-cabin extras.
Air India is making changes on the Delhi–Toronto route too. During winter, seven of its ten weekly flights are scheduled to use the newer Boeing 787-9. The airline plans to move the remaining flights to the 787-9 by January 2027. These aircraft upgrades will increase premium seating capacity to Toronto by 71% across its India–Canada services.
Before booking a premium cabin, check the aircraft listed on your ticket before you pay. The aircraft type determines the cabin layout and the seats available on your flight.
How the Mumbai Route Fits Into Air India’s Canada Network
The Mumbai–Toronto service expands Air India’s Canada network for Winter 2026–27. The airline plans 20 flights a week from India to Canada, spread across three routes:
- Mumbai–Toronto: 3 flights per week
- Delhi–Toronto: 10 flights per week
- Delhi–Vancouver: 7 flights per week
For travellers, the Mumbai addition means one more Indian city to choose when planning a Canada–India trip. Air India’s network also connects through Mumbai and Delhi to cities such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Vadodara.
That wider network gives travellers more ways to plan their journey. Someone visiting family in Mumbai could take the nonstop Toronto flight, while another passenger heading to Ahmedabad or Hyderabad could connect through Mumbai or Delhi.
Air India’s new seasonal service adds another nonstop option between Canada and India from October 25, 2026. With three flights each week and upgraded cabin interiors, travellers get a direct Mumbai–Toronto option without a scheduled connection.
