Airports Of The World Where You Don’t Need A Boarding Pass

How many times have you experienced long waiting hours for a layover or long checking in hours, or even when you are in a rush but printing the boarding pass takes time? While beginners to flight journeys wouldn’t probably mind, experienced fliers would want to avoid it at all costs. It doesn’t matter whether they are on comfy flights from Canada to India or to anywhere from anywhere.

the Government of India launched DigiYatra

Thankfully, the Government of India launched DigiYatra on 1st December, 2022. One may ask what it is about. We’ll explain. DigiYatra is, in official terms, a Biometric Enabled Seamless Travel (BEST) experience where the government provides paperless travel to passengers based on facial recognition technology.

In India, you can find DigiYatra being used at Bengaluru, Varanasi, Pune, Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad airports. Currently, it is not mandatory to use DigiYatra for passengers and can be used voluntarily for free. It also reduces the check- in time drastically so we don’t see a reason not to adopt it where available. We wish to improve by activating the service at all Indian airports and international destinations as well.Right now, it is only available for domestic routes of flights.

DigiYatra also has an app available in Google Play Store for Android and iOS users. The app links the flier’s boarding pass to the FRS, i.e. The Facial Recognition System, which confirms their identity. Apart from this, technology around the aviation industry has been improving by leaps and bounds across the world.

Even when the pandemic forced us to go contactless, many safety measures were introduced to keep everyone safe. These ranged from smart check- ins, digitized security gates and many more such steps to ensure everyone followed the guidelines. However, and we come with more good news, you should also know that there are a few other airports around the world which have changed to biometric boarding than printed paper passes for all types of flights, including cheap first class flights.

Now without further ado, let us get to the airports of the world where you do not need to print out a boarding pass to travel via air.

  1. India- Bengaluru, Delhi, Varanasi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune Airports
  2. Tokyo, Japan- Narita International Airport and Haneda International Airport
  3. Malaysia- Kuala Lumpur International Airport
  4. France- Orly Airport and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport
  5. Hong Kong- Hong Kong International Airport
  6. United Arab Emirates- Abu Dhabi International Airport and Dubai International Airport
  7. United Kingdom- Heathrow Airport and Manchester Airport
  8. Spain- Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport

The usual way this works is by submitting the passenger’s identification, uploading a selfie picture and the boarding pass details. Once at the airport, passengers use electronic gates that use facial identification of sorts to verify the passenger instead of using boarding passes. So if you are planning to travel to one of the above locations, don’t forget to check it out!

Firstly, booking air tickets could be a time-consuming task if you don’t seek assistance from professionals, especially for newbies. Furthermore, you may also need to contact air ticket booking agents to get a reasonable deal. On the contrary, if you have a reliable partner for air ticket booking, then you can chill and get cheap flights to India from Canada in one call.

Many times airfare falls down after the air ticket booking. This is one of the most common concerns that people face. There are several reasons that affect the prices of air tickets. The airlines sometimes sell air tickets at a very low price when the departure date is close and there are several unbooked seats in the plane. The bad weather forecast on the travel dates caused the airfare drop.

Additional Reasons for Air Ticket Prices Fluctuation
Additional Reasons for Air Ticket Prices Fluctuation

  • Demand – At certain times, the demand for a particular flight route increases. For example, if YYZ to Delhi is high in demand, then airfare may rise, as well as fall. This depends on Airline Revenue Management Algorithm. Generally, airlines increase the price of air tickets to generate good revenue. But airlines also drop the fare to sell the maximum number of air tickets.
  • Competition – Just like every other business vertical, airlines also keep a check on competitor airlines to track their airfare details. If one airline drops the price, then another competing airline will also change the fare. So you must always keep your eyes open for multiple airlines to crack the best deal.
  • Time of the Booking – Since Airlines use historical data to forecast air ticket prices, prices change drastically in weeks and months before a journey. This strategy helps airlines to manage the balance of seats and profits. If you want to get the best deals on flights from Toronto to Delhi, then book your tickets 2-3 months prior to the departure dates.
  • Season – The fare automatically increases during the peak travel time of the year. For example – the festive season, summer holidays, Christmas & New Year, or other holidays. Book air tickets in advance for such seasons. Otherwise, the tickets may cost you double and there is also a possibility that you might not get the tickets.
  • Day of the Week -The aviation (airline) industry considers Tuesdays the best day to get great discounts on air tickets. On the contrary, Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays are believed to be the most expensive travel days. As most businessmen prefer to travel on weekdays so you can get comparatively cheap last minute flights on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Steps To Follow To Get Reimbursement After Booking

No matter whether you book national or international flight tickets, there is no guarantee of a refund after air ticket booking. However, there are some scenarios along with a deadline in which passengers can avail reimbursement. If you wish to get discounted deals to book flight tickets from Canada to India, then purchase the tickets 2-3 months in advance. Also, keep checking the latest price of the flight tickets even after booking.

There are mainly 2 scenarios in which passengers can get a refund from the airlines post air ticket booking when airfare drops. However, you need to check each detail carefully with the chosen airline. As many airlines offer refunds only when a passenger cancels the reservation. But not when the airfare drops. On the other hand, some airlines don’t provide refunds.

Scenario 1Within 24 Hours Of Booking

If you found a cheaper fare 24 hours prior to the departure time of the flight, then you come inside the 24-hour window. Once you get confirmation that your air ticket price is cheaper and it is under the 24-hour window, then quickly book a new air ticket at a low price. This will ensure that you are not left empty-handed without any confirmed tickets.

Scenario 2Post 24 Hours Of Booking

This is a completely different scenario as all the arrangements will depend on the fare type. For instance, if you booked economy YYZ to Delhi flights, in this case, no refund is applicable once the 24-hours window scenario is completed. However, you might get a refund when airfare drops only if you booked the whole economy or higher admission.

Top 3 Airlines Airfare Price Drop Refund Policy

  • Air Canada – As per Air Canada Airline, if a passenger finds at least a $5 difference in the airfare for the same flight, then a credit of $50 plus the price difference will be credited to the passenger. This means you will be credited with a refund amount along with the difference between the airfare during the cheap last minute flights.
  • American Airlines – According to American Airlines, if a passenger books a refundable ticket for economy class or above, then you are eligible for a full refund even when you drop the flight. Instead, essential economy passengers aren’t eligible for a refund after 24 hours window. Any changes before departure are $200 for national travel and up to $750 for international travel.
  • Hawaiian Airlines – The Hawaiian Airlines refund policy covers only the difference between air tickets at the time of purchase. So you might not get any refund even if the airfare drops.
