Air India Outpaced Air Canada By Increasing Its Flights Operating Between India And Canada
This good news has come right after the full deployment of the A350, which was announced 5 weeks ago. While Air India is expanding its flights to Toronto in Canada, Air Canada has retreated back from the expansion. The Air Canada expansion announcements were made in early June. But, the flights for sale are fewer than those mentioned in the announcements.
What do you need to know about Air India’s flight operations between India and Canada?
Starting this winter, Air India is doubling its daily services by adding more flights traveling to and from Toronto. The capacity will increase from 1st September, 2024, that is this year. The airline is increasing its capacity from 7 weekly flights to 10. It is also running with plans to further expand to 14 flights per week later.
What do Air India’s flight operations look like in the coming future?

- Toronto to Delhi: 7 times a week
- Toronto to Mumbai: 4 times a week
- Calgary to Delhi (via London): 7 times a week
- Montreal to Delhi: 7 times a week
And now, here is what the services look like today.
- Toronto to Delhi: 7 times a week
- Toronto to Mumbai: 3 times a week (Departures from Toronto on Mondays were dropped.)
- Calgary to Delhi (via London): 7 times a week
- Montreal to Delhi: 5 times a week (Departure from Montreal on Tuesdays and Thursdays were dropped.)
What is the current situation of Air Canada with the reduction in services?
Since the reduction of 3 services happened with Air Canada, it only provides 22 flights per week. That calculates to 6570 seats in each direction per week. As announced in June, there should be 7400 seats in each direction. While the flight schedule is exactly working as announced, the ones for January and February are a mix. There are 25 flights operating weekly in some weeks while others contain 22 flights.
