The Immigration and Refugee Council of Canada (IRCC) has released its list of the top ten source nations for new Canada PR arrivals in 2022. Canada has achieved new heights, with 437,120 (+8%) permanent citizens arriving in the nation by flights to Canada in 2022.
In 2022, economic immigration schemes including Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) were the dominant source of immigrants. This is the second year in a row that Canada has exceeded its immigration intake objectives, with a total of 431,645 candidates invited to apply for Canada PR in 2021.
Throughout the previous half-century, Canada has earned a reputation for accepting immigrants and appreciating multiculturalism. Foreign-born persons account for over one-quarter of Canada’s population, the greatest proportion in more than 150 years and one of the highest ratios among industrialized Western nations.
Over the year, Canada averaged 23,000 new PR landings every month.
In 2022, skilled worker programs, corporate immigration programs, PNPs, and TR2PR programs were responsible for almost 58.5% of total PR landings.
The newest PR landings in Canada were via Economic Immigration, Family Class Sponsorship, and Refugees & Protected People streams.
The most common immigration destinations in Canada for PR landings were Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba.
Yet, according to a recent estimate, the country has gained a large portion of employment in recent months. According to a Statistics Canada study, a total of 150,000 jobs were added in January alone, significantly above expectations. Nonetheless, the unemployment rate remained stable at 5%, close to a record low. The total for January was more than double that of December when roughly 70,000 jobs were added.
For Indians seeking permanent residency in Canada, there are various possibilities of flights to Canada. The Fast Entry option is still the most popular and convenient. Those who pick the Fast Entry route for a Canada PR visa can expect to get their permanent residence status within 8-12 months.
Canada intends to have welcomed 500,000 newcomers by the end of 2025, with more than 60% arriving through one of three Express Entry programs: the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
India continues to be the leading source of new immigrants to Canada, with the vast majority settling in Ontario. The Express Entry program in Canada continues to be the most popular and simple route for Indians to receive a permanent residence visa in Canada.
