The biodiversity museum has been constructed in the Vallakadavu Boathouse in Trivandrum and the boathouse dates back to the 19^th century. Though the inauguration was in 2018, the work on the project began all the way back in 2013 after the proposal for the project.

The project was an initiative of the Kerala State Biodiversity Board (KSSB) accompanied by the Kerala State Coastal Area Development Corporation, the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, and the Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (Keltron).

How to reach here?

When you are in Thiruvananthapuram, take a bus to Vallakkadavu from East fort. Get down on Vallakkadavu bridge. Walk approximately 800 metres, take a left after the bridge and walk straight. You will notice a building left of the road with drawings relating biodiversity on its wall. Since the bus service on that route is limited, it is best to take an auto from the prepaid auto counter in Thampanoor KSRTC bus stand or Trivandrum railway station. The auto charges will be in the range of Rs. 80 – 90.
