Alfred is the chairman of the 100 – million – dollar project and has donated over 30 million for the cause. He has also taken up a Hindu name Ambarish Das. This occurred following his initiation by Swami Prabhupada during their first meeting in Dallas, Texas, in 1974.

In 1975, he accompanied Swami Prabhupada on his inaugural journey from the US to India. That trip steered his life toward a deep devotion and spirituality for Lord Krishna. Ambarish Das and his family are very invested in the construction of India’s largest Vedic planetarium temple. This includes his Indian American wife, Sharmila Bhattacharya from West Bengal along with their 2 daughters who live in Florida. The couple made a wholesome donation from their personal assets for the construction of the ISKCON Vedic Planetarium Temple. They also collected funds from various parts of India.
You might be surprised to know that Ambarish Das isn’t alone in his contributions for the Indian wonder temple. His family is supporting him every step of the way. One of his daughters, Anisha Ford, got a million dollars as a gift from her grandmother. It was a reward after she got a master’s degree from Harvard University. And the best part is, she donated it all to the construction efforts of Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir.
